The purpose of this training is to help MCDPH partners better understand how culturally relevant and non-traditional leadership can help build a culture of belonging for staff, clients, and partners. The training will provide strategies to form and strengthen internal leadership as well as enhance collaboration with organizations that structure leadership differently in order to improve health outcomes in marginalized communities.

This training discusses:
■ How to lead effectively in culturally diverse settings
■ How to incorporate conventional and non-traditional leadership approaches in a way that is authentic to you
■ How to drive positive change, promote inclusion, and inspire innovation

The purpose of this training is to help participants learn more about having difficult conversations with a particular focus on how to stay true to our values and beliefs when there is a power imbalance or when social dynamics may challenge the interaction. In order to carry out meaningful conversations between funder and the funded, upper management and front-line staff, seasoned professional and entry level, elder and youth some special soft skills will be required from both sides of the power imbalance. This workshop will review those skills and provide a safe space for participants to practice these skills in order to have courageous conversations.
