Courageous Conversations for Better Health Equity – VIRTUAL Workshop
November 20 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm PST
In this interactive workshop participants will learn more about having difficult conversations with a particular focus on how to stay true to our values and beliefs when there is a power imbalance or when social dynamics may challenge the interaction. In order to carry out meaningful conversations between funder and the funded, upper management and front-line staff, seasoned professional and entry level, elder and youth some special soft skills will be required from both sides of the power imbalance. This workshop will review those skills and provide a safe space for participants to practice these skills in order to have courageous conversations.

Susette Aguiar-Possnack
Susette is a Goldstar Certified Partner in the Strengthscope system, using Strengthscope and other tools to assess individuals and organizations, enabling the creation of simple, strength-based training strategies that identify an organization’s goals, and providing easily attainable steps to reaching those goals.
With her experience as an educator, a non-profit sector executive, and an executive in the University of California system, she saw firsthand the tremendous impacts leadership and work culture have on employees regarding job satisfaction, growth, productivity, health, and turnover rates.
Through staff and leadership development workshops and one-on-one coaching, Susette successfully led teams in medical clinics, biotech, government, non-profit, higher education, media, and engineering to build trust, improve team dynamics, increase productivity, and ultimately transform work environments by teaching practical techniques that help people to use their strengths and energizers strategically.
Susette is the daughter of immigrants. She went from a very modest home environment where English was not spoken in the home, to being the first and only family member to graduate from university, eventually becoming a high school teacher teaching English, a university executive, and entrepreneur who owns her own consulting, training, and coaching business. Susette’s training style is engaging and dynamic. Designing and facilitating training sessions that help people have a better work-life balance is her passion!

Jeff Trovinger
With 20 years of guiding and seeing others reach for their potential and actualizing it, Jeff‘s track record of building high-performance teams and cultivating future leaders through strengths-based approaches is his motivation and inspiration. Jeff advocates for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in everything he does, whether at work, in the classroom, and beyond. It is a driving force for why he does what he does.
A lifelong learner, Jeff earned an MBA in Organizational Leadership from Mount Saint Mary’s University, Los Angeles. He is a Master Trainer and Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD), certified by Association of Talent Development (ATD). He is a Certified Trainer at the Leadership and Service Level from Achieve Global (owned by Korn Ferry) and a Certified Talent Management Practitioner from the international talent management governing body, Talent Management Institute.
After attaining certification as a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Certified Practitioner, which highlights awareness of personality preferences and how they are expressed, Jeff recently expanded his knowledge by becoming certified in Talent+ and Predictive Index talent assessments. Based on Jeff’s beliefs, leveraging these instruments in understanding and knowing one’s self better are valuable tools to help us grow in self-awareness, open ourselves to new possibilities, and can be a catalysts in providing us with life purpose.
In his personal life, Jeff relishes being home with his husband Juan, tending to their garden, enjoying the beach, and caring for their rescued family members: parakeet Solo and tabby cat Mango. The four enjoy and appreciate what life’s blessings have brought them – bountiful love, acceptance, and belonging.
